Objectives
The vision of the Institute is to create and maintain an environment that fosters Learning, Research, and Innovation, as pillars of Regional, National, and European socio-economic development and progress. The primary mission of the Institute is to conduct basic and applied research, develop cutting-edge technologies for innovative product and service production, and pursue “scientific and technological excellence” in selected areas, including Energy, Environment, Materials, and Processes, aiming to attract investments in Western Macedonia and meet the needs of the Greek and European industrial and productive sectors. Clearly, the development objectives also include emerging technologies that represent investment opportunities, such as energy storage and management systems, as well as technologies for material recovery/production from energy production residues from fossil fuels. Specifically, the fields of energy, environment, advanced materials, industrial processes, information technology, telecommunication, and transportation are research areas of great interest to both people and society.
